Marc Jacobs | Famous Fashion Designers
Marc Jacobs was born in New York city,he grew up in Teaneck,New Jersey where he lived with mother,brother and sister,he a tended the high school called Teaneck then he attended and graduated at the high school of art and design in New York.
When Marc Jacobs was fifteen he worked as a stockboy at Charivari a clothing boutique once located in New York city.Marc Jacobs later studied art and design at the New School situated in New York City,he then went on to study at the Parson School of Design where Marc Jacobs won the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award in 1984 and in the same year he won the Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award and the Design Student of the Year Award.
Marc Jacobs began to design at the Perry Ellis line
At Parsons School Of Design he designed and sold his line of hand knitted sweaters.Marc Jacobs at that time also designed his first collection for Reuben Thomas,Inc.,under the Sketchbook label.Following his studies Jacobs began to design at the Perry Ellis line.Jacobs became prominent on the fashion scene once again received a distinct honor,the Women’s Designer of the Year Award for his fabled Grunge Collection
Marc Jacobs and Duffy joined the women’s design unit of Tristan Russo in 1989 as vice president and president, respectively. In addition, Jacobs oversaw the design of the various women’s licensees.With Robert Duffy, Jacobs his creative collaborator and business partner since the mid-1980s,he formed Jacobs Duffy Designs Inc,which is still here today.
In 1992,the Council of Fashion Designers of America awarded Marc Jacobs with The Women’s Designer of the Year Award.
In 1997 Marc Jacobs and Robert Duffy joined Louis Vuitton,Jacobs as Artistic Director and Duffy as Studio Director.
Marc Jacobs introduced the secondary line
Marc by Marc Jacobs,with a acclaimed spring 2001 show that was a runaway.The awards keep rolling in with several CFDA awards including Women’s wear Designer of the Year, Accessories Designer of the Year and Menswear designer of the year.
- Marc Jacobs first multi-brand store in the U.S.opened in August 2004 on Bostons New bury Street.
- May 2005 brought the opening of 3 new stores in Los Angeles.
- Opened their first free-standing European store in Paris at The Palais Royale in January 2006
- In February 2007 they opened another store in a London location.
- A full line of children’s wear was launched in spring 2007 called Little Marc Jacobs
There business has gone from strength to strength and has expanded to more than 60 stores worldwide and currently produces six fragrances, 2 eye wear collections, a line of watches
