Gucci is probably the most known name in the fashion industry from there humble beginnings at the end of the the nineteenth century to one the most known names in the fashion industry today.A young Guccio Gucci (1881–1953) a immigrant in London,working in top hotels notice and impressed with all the luxurious leather luggage the upper class had with them,on his return to his birthplace of florence in 1920 he opened a shop that sold fine leather goods traditional classic styling.

Guccio Gucci and his three young sons Aldo Gucci (1905-1990) ,Vasco Gucci (1907-1975) and Rodolfo Gucci (1912-1983) expanded the business that included a store in Milan,Rome as well as stores in Florence,they sold quality crafted leather goods such as shoes (Gucci Loafer) ,handbags,they also sold silks and quality knitwear with there signature pattern.During world war II the Gucci family sold handbags made of cotton canvas due to the lack of the leather materials,but there were always blazed  with there emblem.

Tom Ford was at the fourfront of decision-making with Domenico De Sole when the Gucci empire acquired Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, Bottega Veneta, Boucheron, Sergio Rossi, and, in part-ownership with Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga.In 2001 Tom Ford and Domenico De Sole both held the responsibility for major business decisions,Tom Ford concurrently directed design at Yves Saint Laurent as well as at Gucci.

French conglomerate Pinault-Printemps-Redouté obtained 60 percent of the Gucci Group’s stock in 2003.Domenico De Sole and Tom Ford left Women’s Wear Daily when their contracts ended in April 2004. The last spring collection under their direction of Tom Ford and Domenico De Sole was a critical and commercial success.The company announced in March 2004 that Tom Ford would be replaced by a team of younger designers promoted from the ranks of the company.
